Memorandum Of Understanding between the Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea and Lombardy Region for sharing methodologies, tools and technologies to support environmental assessment processes

On 29/01/2018 the Directorate General for Environmental Assessments and Authorizations of the Ministry of the Environment (MATTM) and the Directorate General Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development of the Lombardy Region signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU).
The intention of the MOU is the institutional collaboration and the exchange of experiences gained as part of the administrative and technical management of environmental assessment procedures.
This institutional collaboration should aim at the definition of the criteria, the methodologies and the best operational tools to support decisions based on the use of innovative tools (IoT based) and on technical-scientific international standards, already tested by the Lombardy Region (DGR N. 11317/2010, DGR N. 3462/2015).
In the framework of Legislative Decree 104/2017, which guarantees transparency and uniformity of application of the EIA legislation, the collaboration between MATTM and Lombardy Region aims at strengthening the e-governance of the EIA and SEA processes to achieve the common objectives of improving environmental assessments quality and of streamlining procedures and administrative action.
