The Ministry of Economic Development – Directorate-General for mineral and energy resources - has recently published (Supplement to the Official Bulletin for Hydrocarbons and Earth Resources, Year 57 No. 2 of 28/02/2013) the study "The Sea" dedicated to the research activities and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the sea.

In addition to providing a complete and up to date framework on mining stocks and the national marine exploitation of hydrocarbons, the document focuses on international and national issues of safety and environmental protection of offshore activities, especially in light of recent regulatory developments (National Energy Strategy, proposed EU Regulation on safety of offshore activities).

Given the significant impact of projects prospecting, exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons at sea subject to national EIA, the publication is a useful tool for both professionals and for all those interested in exploring these themes, which contributes to the conscious and sustainable management of energy resources, in compliance with the protection and conservation of the marine environment.
