Event on "The new EIA Directive, specific aspects and problems in its transposition"

The Directorate for Environmental Assessments is organizing an information and awareness event on the new EIA Directive and the objectives and issues related to its implementation.

The event, to be held in Rome at the Auditorium of the Ministry of the Environment on the 26th of November, 2014 will involve together with the Regions and Administrations involved in the EIA procedures, the European Commission, Experts from the European EIA / SEA Working Group and from the Technical Verification Committee Of Environmental Impact - SEA and EIA.

The aim of the event is to undertake a reflection among the various parties involved in the process of EIA in order to maximize its effectiveness in the transposition of the Directive through the comparison of European experiences.

In particular, some key issues related to EIA in Italy will be addressed, such as the quality of projects and of the environmental impact reports, public and stakeholders participation in the EIA process and the coordination between the different authorities involved.

A session dedicated to the delicate issue of transboundary projects will also be included.
